The72’s writers offer their Swansea City vs QPR prediction ahead of the Championship clash on Monday afternoon.

Swansea City drew 1-1 with relegation candidates Sheffield Wednesday on Good Friday and on Monday, they face a QPR side also in danger of a drop from the Championship.

The Swans were in the relegation picture but an improved run of form means they look safe now. Luke Williams and co are eight points clear of the drop and 15th in the Championship table.

QPR meanwhile took a huge step towards safety on Friday. They came from behind to win 2-1 against Birmingham City in the 92nd minute, moving them four points above the relegation zone.

Marti Cifuentes’ side went behind through Juninho Bacuna but a quick response came through Steve Cook before Jimmy Dunne secured a valuable three points.

QPR took a big step towards securing their Championship status with that win over Birmingham City. Not only was it valuable in terms of the points gained, but the comeback can be a real morale boost for the Rs after some challenging matches.

“They’re in for another test here though. Swansea City have made some good steps forward under Luke Williams in recent weeks and I wouldn’t be all that surprised if they won here.

“However, as they face another side battling against the drop, I think the spoils will be shared. I’ll say this ends 1-1.”

“Having lost just one of their last six, Swansea appear to have finally picked up under Williams’ leadership and should feel confident of going three games unbeaten when they face QPR on Monday.

“Cifuentes’ men have been in decent form of their own, however, and will feel capable of grabbing a result at the Swansea.com Stadium following their huge victory on Friday.

“This is a tough one to call given the similar runs that both sides are on at present, but with more at stake for the away side they might take the spoils here if they are able to channel their energy correctly.

“I am edging slightly towards three points for the Hoops on this occasion, although it could really go either way.”
