Grimsby Town in line for big injury boost ahead of Barrow and Bradford City clashes

Grimsby Town may have Danny Rose back for their Easter weekend fixtures, as detailed on their official club website.

Grimsby Town take on Barrow away this afternoon before locking horns with Bradford City at home on Monday.

Rose, 30, has missed their last three League Two outings against MK Dons, Gillingham and Wrexham.

However, in this latest update regarding his condition, the Mariners have confirmed he ‘could’ be back in the squad. In other news, defender Niall Maher is out of action.

Who is this?

Having Rose back available would be a big boost for Grimsby as they look to end this season on a high.

They swooped to land the forward last summer to bolster their attacking options.

He has since made 36 appearances in all competitions and has scored 14 goals, 12 of which have come in the league.

The Barnsley-born man has turned out to be a useful signing for the Mariners on a two-year deal after helping Stevenage win promotion to League One last year under Steve Evans.

Rose is an experienced player in the Football League and has played just under 450 matches to date.

He has had spells in the past at Barnsley, Bury, Mansfield Town and Northampton Town.

Grimsby are sat in 21st place in the table and are six points above the drop zone with eight fixtures left to play. They have games in hand on Forest Green, Sutton United and Colchester United below them.

The Mariners could do with a few more results just to make sure they aren’t dragged into trouble.

Despite their loss last time out against promotion chasing Wrexham, they have turned a corner over recent times under David Artell.

Their defeat to the Red Dragons was their first in seven outings. They take on a Barrow outfit today who are inside the play-offs in 6th.
