‘Would be typical’ – Hull City vs Stoke City prediction: The72

The72’s writers offer their Hull City vs Stoke City prediction ahead of their Championship clash on Friday afternoon.

Hull City head into this Good Friday fixture off the back of four consecutive draws, the last being a 2-2 encounter at home against league leaders Leicester City.

The Tigers led twice through Fabio Carvalho and Anass Zaroury, but Jamie Vardy pegged them back both times, once from the penalty spot, as the Foxes ensured they took a point back to the East Midlands. Liam Rosenior’s men have now dropped out of the play-off spots, sat 7th in the table and three points off the top six with a game in hand.

Stoke City, on the other hand, suffered a heavy defeat at the hands of Norwich City in their last encounter as they lost 3-0 at the bet365 Stadium to deal a big blow to their survival hopes.

Josh Sargent, Gabriel Sara and Ashley Barnes were on the scoresheet for the Canaries, with the Potters’ now occupying 19th place in the Championship, just two points above the relegation zone with eight games left to play.

Here, a handful of our writers make their predictions for the game…

Jacob Hackett

“Despite having not picked up a win in their last four, the Tigers have continued to show their quality and another victory must be around the corner for Rosenior’s side.

“Back on home soil, and against an underperforming Stoke outfit, Hull will certainly fancy their chances of returning to winning ways.

“The Potters may take some confidence on their travels to the MKM Stadium having won their last away fixture against Preston North End 2-1, another side battling for a position in the top six, however their heavy defeat against Norwich might have dented their beliefs.

“It is hard to see past a win for the hosts on this occasion.”

Who is this?

Harry Mail

“This is a big one for Hull City. They will be itching to return after two weeks off and could do with winning as they chase down 6th place.

The Tigers haven’t been convincing at home and perform much better when they are away when the pressure is off. It would be typical for them to draw or loss at home to Stoke City but then get a result at Leeds United on Monday.

The Potters need a result at the MKM Stadium as they battle it out near the bottom of the table. Steven Schumacher’s side were beaten 3-0 at home by Norwich City.

Although Hull aren’t the best on their own patch, I think they might change their fortunes here and get a win.”
