‘Another massive dent’ – Sheffield Wednesday vs Swansea City prediction: The72

The72’s writers offer their Sheffield Wednesday vs Swansea City prediction ahead of the Championship clash on Friday afternoon.

Sheffield Wednesday come into their Good Friday clash with Swansea City desperately looking to rediscover some form. After four straight wins, the Owls have lost back-to-back games.

It means Danny Rohl’s side remain in the Championship relegation zone despite the strides forward taken under his lead. They sit in 23rd, but only a point separates them and safety.

Swansea City meanwhile look to have put enough distance between themselves and the drop. Luke Williams’ side have lost only one of their last five games, lifting them to 15th in the Championship table and seven points away from the bottom three.

Last time out, the Swans defeated bitter rivals Cardiff City. It marked revenge for them after losing to the Bluebirds earlier in the season.

Here, a handful of our writers make their predictions for the game…

James Ray

“Every game is important for Sheffield Wednesday at the moment. They’ve lost a couple of tough games, so they’ll be determined to get back on against a beatable Swansea City side.

“The Swans will be brimming with confidence though, so I think they might deal another massive dent to the Owls’ survival hopes.

“It would be great to see Rohl pull off a great escape at Hillsborough after taking them over in such a tough position. That 6-0 loss to Ipswich Town might have really taken the wind out of their sails though, and a confident Swansea could condemn them to another damaging loss.”

Who is this?

Jacob Hackett

“The Owls are in need of a massive response following their thrashing last time out, though their morale is bound to be bruised and they face a Swansea side who have picked up their performances in recent weeks.

“Having beat rivals Cardiff City before the international break, the Swans are bound to feel confident ahead of their trip to Hillsborough and they will no doubt be eyeing victory on the road.

“Wednesday could climb out of the relegation zone should results go their way, but I can see the away side giving them a tough time this weekend.

“I expect a better performance from the hosts, but it ultimately being Swansea that take the spoils.”
