QPR defender given green light to head out the exit door on loan

QPR’s Trent Rendall has joined Braintree Town on loan, as announced by their official club website.

QPR have let the defender join the National League South side on a temporary basis.

Rendall, 22, will be eager to get plenty of game time under his belt over the coming weeks.

The Hoops have confirmed he has made the switch to the sixth tier on a one-month basis.

Rendall’s move to Braintree is an opportunity for him to get some more experience.

He has risen up through the academy ranks at QPR and has been a regular at various youth levels. However, he hasn’t made a first-team appearance for the Championship side.

Instead, he has had various loan spells away in the past at Eastbourne Borough, Gloucester City and Eastleigh to boost his development.

He spent time with the latter earlier in this campaign in the National League and played nine matches before heading back to his parent club.

Rendall penned a six-month contract extension along with Micah Anthony at the end of December. His deal expires this summer and he is due to become a free agent in late June.

The R’s have a big decision to make regarding his long-term future.

In the meantime, Marti Cifuentes’ side are fully focussed on avoiding relegation to League One. They are a point above the drop zone.

They have a big game coming up on Friday against Birmingham City following the international break.

Meanwhile, Rendall is in line to make his debut for Braintree as they take on St Alban’s City.
