Blackpool man to return in the summer after latest loan update

Blackpool defender Dan Sassi has extended his loan at Rochdale, as announced by the official club website.

Blackpool have let the youngster remain with the non-league side until the end of the season.

Sassi, 20, joined the National League outfit on an initial one-month basis in February and has since made six appearances for them in all competitions.

The Seasiders have confirmed he will be staying put at Spotland until the summer before heading back to Bloomfield Road.

Sassi is under contract at Blackpool until the summer of 2026 so is someone that they will be hoping can break into their first-team down the line.

The fact Rochdale wanted to keep hold of him shows he is doing a decent job with the North West club.

He was given the green light to move there to get some more experience under his belt.

Sassi was on the books at Stoke City and Burnley before the Seasiders snapped him up in 2022. He is yet to make an appearance for his current team though due to competition for places in his position, hence why he was allowed to depart temporarily.

Blackpool are currently aiming for a place in the League One play-offs. Neil Critchley’s men are sat in 9th place in the table.

They are only three points off the top six with seven fixtures left to play of this campaign as they battle it out with the likes of Oxford United, Stevenage, Lincoln City and Leyton Orient for 6th position.

The Tangerines lost 1-0 away at Wigan Athletic last time out and are back in action this Friday with a trip to Pride Park to take on automatic promotion chasing Derby County.

They then face Wycombe Wanderers on Easter Monday as they look to hit some form again.
