3 players who could exit if Birmingham City are relegated to League One

Birmingham City have just eight games to ensure their safety, currently level on points with the relegation zone as we enter the business end of the season.

Birmingham City are in a perilous position in the relegation battle with only goal difference keeping them out the bottom three with eight games remaining.

Birmingham City occupy 21st spot in the table at present having endured another poor Championship campaign, and an upturn in form is crucial if they are to avoid finishing in the bottom three.

The Blues have a number of squad members who could be poached if they suffer relegation, with some more likely than others to head for the exit doors this summer should the club find themselves in League One.

Here, we take a look at three players who could move on from Birmingham City if they are relegated this season…

Juninho Bacuna

Curacao international Bacuna has been a standout performer for Birmingham City this season, with eight goals and six assists in 41 matches making him the lead goal contributor at St. Andrew’s across all competitions.

The 26-year-old midfielder is out of contract next summer, so should the Blues fall down to League One there are bound to be plenty of suitors interested in a potential bargain buy.

Who is this?

Krystian Bielik

Since signing permanently for the Blues in the summer following a successful loan spell from Derby County during the previous campaign, Bielik has cemented his place as a top standard holding midfielder at Championship level.

The 26-year-old left the Rams following their relegation to the third tier as he did not want to play at a lower level in case it affected his chances of an international call-up. A similar outcome could easily play out here for the Polish ace.

Jordan James

Highly-rated youngster James has already received plenty of interest from Premier League and Serie A outfits which will likely persist regardless of what division Birmingham City end up in.

The 19-year-old midfielder, who has already been capped nine times by Wales, has made 41 appearances in all competitions this season and hit the back of the net on eight occasions. He is destined to play at a higher level, and that move may be made sooner rather than later.
