Watford prospect to return in the summer following latest loan update

Watford goalkeeper Gabriel Ortelli has extended his loan spell at Kings Langley, as announced by the official club website.

Watford have let the youngster stay with the non-league side until the end of the season.

Ortelli, 17, linked up with the Southern League Division One Central outfit back in February on an initial one-month basis and has since made five appearances for them.

The Hornets have now confirmed he will be staying put until the summer.

Ortelli’s extension at Kings Langley suits all parties involved and he will be benefitting from getting regular senior football.

He was given the green light to move to the Hertfordshire club to get some senior game time under his belt.

The teenager’s loan team find themselves in 11th place in the table as they look to end this campaign on a high.

Ortelli joined Watford back in 2019 and is currently a second-year scholar with the Championship side. He will be eyeing a professional deal in the near future.

The Cyprian stopper has been a key player for the Hornets’ Under-18’s and has played for them in the FA Youth Cup.

His parent club are currently sat in 13th place in the second tier with eight fixtures left to get through.

Watford are without a permanent manager following their decision to cut ties with Valerien Ismael after a poor run of form that has seen their chances of making the play-offs slip away.

Tom Cleverley is in caretaker charge at Vicarage Road and guided the Hornets to a 1-0 away win at Birmingham City in their last outing before the international break.

Next up is a home clash against table toppers Leeds United on Friday followed by a trip to West Brom on Monday.
