Leeds United eyeing permanent deal for another loan star alongside Joe Rodon

Leeds United are keen to sign Burnley defender Conor Roberts this summer on a permanent deal, according to a report from TEAMtalk.

Leeds United signed Roberts on loan on deadline day last month and he has played a part in every game since arriving at Elland Road.

The emergence of teenage superstar Archie Gray has meant his minutes have been limited at right-back but he has been used from the bench when needed.

He is an experienced player who has achieved promotion from the Championship with parent club Burnley. The 28-year-old will be able to use this to his advantage and will be a huge help to the Whites in their promotion push.

Now according to TEAMtalk, Daniel Farke is targeting a permanent move for the Clarets loanee after impressing so far. His contract at Turf Moor expires next summer and so he could be available for a cut price.

A good deal for Leeds United

If Leeds United can get a deal done for Roberts, it would present them with a great option at right-back. Not only could he be used in rotation with Gray, but he could also give Gray the chance to move into his more natural midfield role.

Veteran Luke Ayling is likely to leave the club at the end of the season and so this presents them with an opportunity and perhaps a need to get someone new through the door. Roberts knows the players and the club and a deal won’t break the bank.

Burnley aren’t too likely to stand in Leeds United’s way if a bid comes in either. Having fallen down the pecking order and having been shipped out on loan, his future could lie away from Vincent Kompany’s side.

Roberts will be hoping to play a part when Leeds United face Watford at Vicarage Road on Good Friday, as his current side look to cement their place in the top two in the table.
