‘Big boost’ – Stockport County boss shares injury latest on Aston Villa loanee Louie Barry

Stockport County boss Dave Challinor has said Aston Villa loan man Louie Barry will be ‘back in the building’ this week.

Stockport County have been without the attacker for a lengthy spell due to injury.

Barry, 20, joined the League Two promotion hopefuls last summer and scored nine goals in 17 games in all competitions before being sidelined.

Challinor has provided this update on his situation, as per the club’s official YouTube channel: “We should have Louie Barry back in the building with us, certainly not to play but back in the building with us this week which would be a big boost.”

Following a tricky run of form recently, things are starting to look brighter again for Stockport.

They battered MK Dons 5-0 over the weekend and now have a key man in Barry heading back as he looks to get back fit before the end of the season.

It would be a huge boost for the Hatters if he was able to get back out on the pitch to help them get over the line.

Aston Villa let him link up with the North West club in late July to get some more experience under his belt.

Barry, who played for Barcelona before moving to Villa Park, has played once for the first-team of his parent club to date.

He has also had loan spells away from the Midlands outfit in the past at Ipswich Town, Swindon Town, MK Dons and Salford City in the past to boost his development.

The ex-England youth international really found his feet at Stockport and was in the form of his career before his injury setback.

Barry has remained registered for Challinor’s side during his recovery.

The Hatters are back in action on Friday with an away trip to Forest Green. That could be a tough match against a side fighting for their lives at the bottom of the table.
