3 Preston North End players capable of stepping up to the Premier League in the future

Preston North End have had a stellar season this time out and are still within a chance of the play-offs. Here we take a look at three players who have impressed this campaign who could go to the very top.

Preston North End sit in 9th place in the table and are five points outside of the top six with a game in hand. There are nine games left to play and they will be hoping to close that gap in the coming weeks.

There have been some real standout performers for the Lilywhites this season and some who could likely generate interest from sides in the Premier League. Here we look at three who are capable of playing in the division above.

Freddie Woodman

Woodman played nine times for Newcastle United and was perhaps unlucky to not have been given more of a shot in the first-team fold. But the Magpies’ loss is Preston North End’s gain.

The goalkeeper has been a huge standout since signing for the club and could well be destined to be a shot-stopper on a consistent basis for a side in the Premier League.

Emil Riis

Although injuries have stunted any momentum after his impressive 20-goal tally of 2021/22, his performances have been strong when featuring for the Lilywhites since.

He has four goals and three assists in just 12 games so far this season and at just 25 years old he is likely to be a player that Premier League sides could take a gamble on in the not too distant future.

Liam Millar

A direct winger who can create chances and has an eye for goal is always one to watch, Millar has had a great season with Preston North End, scoring five goals and registering five assists this season.

Currently on loan from Swiss giants Basel, Millar could return to his parent club in the summer, but it wouldn’t be surprising if another Championship club came calling, or even someone higher up the footballing pyramid.
