26-year-old Bristol City man makes National League switch

Bristol City goalkeeper Lewis Thomas has joined National League side Bromley on loan until the end of the season, the non-league side have confirmed via their official website.

Bristol City have been one of the busiest sides in the transfer market across the campaign. There have been 24 different loan deals completed away from Ashton Gate, with one more now to add to that tally.

Goalkeeper Thomas has joined National League side Bromley on loan until the end of the campaign. Bromley confirmed the news via their official website this afternoon.

He will join up with his new teammates with immediate effect as his new loan side target a place in the play-offs and promotion to the EFL.

Bromley currently sit in 3rd in the fifth-tier table with hopes of automatic promotion seemingly all but over given the 22 point gap between themselves and runaway leaders Chesterfield.

The 26-year-old has played in both League One and League Two with Forest Green Rovers and so brings a wealth of experience to Hayes Lane.

A strong acquisition, but no future at Bristol City

Given his experience in the divisions above and having been part of squads at Championship level with Swansea City and Bristol City, he looks to certainly be a strong acquisition for Bromley.

Although signed as a back-up for the Robins in 2023 it isn’t likely he has a future at Ashton Gate in the first-team. He could get minutes at senior level if there are injuries, but he has a couple of players ahead of him first.

Therefore, it is difficult to see him playing for his parent club and so may be better suited looking for a new club elsewhere in the summer. If Bromley secure promotion this could be a suitable place to make his home on a permanent basis.
