‘Could even snatch a win’ – Grimsby Town vs Wrexham prediction: The72

The72’s writers offer their Grimsby Town vs Wrexham prediction ahead of the League Two clash on Saturday afternoon.

Grimsby Town come into their clash with Wrexham looking to maintain distance between themselves and the drop. Six points currently separate them in 21st and the relegation zone.

Dave Artell’s side are currently unbeaten in six games, drawing four of those. They also boast at least one game in hand on the majority of those around them.

Wrexham meanwhile are fighting to hold onto their place in the automatic promotion spots. They’re 3rd in the League Two table as it stands, level on points with MK Dons in 4th while holding a game in hand.

For the Red Dragons, inconsistency has prevented them from really cementing a place in the top three. Their home form has been strong but wins on the road have been few and far between.

Here, a handful of our writers make their predictions for the game…

James Ray

“I can’t help but feel this game is destined to end level. It’s an important one at opposite ends of League Two and in that situation, you’d usually fancy the team higher up the league to get it done.

“However, Grimsby Town have picked up some good results of late and are looking hard to beat. Against a Wrexham side that struggles on the road, I can see Artell and co getting a point from this.

“A Wrexham at the top of their game would win, but we’ve not seen that enough on the road. I’ll say this ends 1-1, but keep an eye out for Grimsby, as they could even snatch a win.”

Grimsby Town have started to pick up results under David Artell as they look to retain their Football League status.

The Mariners are unbeaten in their last six outings and are proving to be a tough side to break down recently.

Wrexham remain well in with a shout of going up automatically and could do with winning this one. They haven’t won in their last two games and need to keep up with the teams around them.

They need to bounce back from their loss to Tranmere Rovers and I can see the visitors sneaking a significant victory here.”
