3 Lincoln City players capable of stepping up to the Championship in the future

Lincoln City have been in fine form in 2024 with Michael Skubala’s side now looking to sneak into the play-off spots before the campaign’s end.

Lincoln City are sat 7th in the League One table, two points away from the play-off spots. They’ve scored 16 goals across their last three third-tier games and look as though they could make a surprise break into the top six.

Of course, manager Skubala deserves high praise for leading the turnaround. There have been a host of talented players who have starred in this 13-game unbeaten run though, many of whom could go on to play at a higher level.

Here though, we pick out three Lincoln City players capable of stepping up to the Championship in the future…

Lasse Sorensen

Sorensen briefly sampled Premier League and Championship football as a youngster at Stoke City. However, his career has come to life since dropping down to League One with Lincoln City.

The 24-year-old started out in central midfield and still plays there if needs be but has become a standout on the right-hand side, mainly playing as a wing-back. Six goals and eight assists has him amongst some of the third-tier’s best this season and it wouldn’t be a surprise if second-tier clubs came calling this summer.

Sean Roughan

Irishman Roughan is another who has transitioned into a different role, playing centre-back more often than not after starting out at left-back. The 21-year-old is a mainstay at Sincil Bank and with over 100 first-team appearances to his name, he can definitely take himself to a higher level in the future.

Roughan is a Republic of Ireland U21 international and a step up to the first-team is not out of the question.

Who is this?

Ethan Erhahon

A selection of Lincoln City players could have been put forward here, but last but not least is midfielder Erhahon. He looked like an impressive signing from St. Mirren last summer and in his first full season, he’s continued to impress for the Imps.

Having proven himself in the Scottish Premiership and now League One, the Championship will be a logical step up. At 22, the best years of his career are ahead of him.
