3 Birmingham City players capable of stepping up to the Premier League in the future

Birmingham City are embroiled in a relegation battle as it stands but they still boast some standout players with bright futures ahead of them.

Birmingham City sit 21st in the Championship table. They’ve just brought Gary Rowett back to the club as interim boss while Tony Mowbray is on medical leave.

The primary focus is ensuring the Blues stay in the Championship, but one of the club’s wider aims is to have a consistent flow of promising players developing. They can go on to break into the first-team before testing themselves at a higher level in the future.

Here, we pick out three Birmingham City players capable of playing in the Premier League in the future…

Jordan James

Of the current Birmingham City squad, midfielder James might be the next to rise to the Premier League. He’s got interest from the top-flight and after eight goals in 36 league games, he looks ready for a step up.

The Welshman can play in a range of midfield roles as well as out on the left-hand side. After coming through the Blues ranks, he looks destined for a future at the top.

Cody Drameh

While Drameh is currently on loan from Leeds United, there is reportedly an option to make it permanent this summer. The all-action full-back has four Premier League appearances to his name but he’s got what it takes to become a regular there in the future.

At 22, the best is yet to come from Drameh. Time will tell if it comes in a Birmingham City shirt or elsewhere though.

Who is this?

George Hall

Last but not least is academy graduate Hall. He’s had a torrid time with injuries over this season, preventing him from really kicking on at St. Andrew’s. However, he’s fit again now and will be determined to remind everyone just what a bright prospect he is.

The 19-year-old can play out wide or in the middle as a central or attacking midfielder. Once he becomes a regular with the Blues, we could really see Hall kick on and develop into a top-flight calibre player.
