‘Worked so hard’ – Notts County boss Stuart Maynard hails 25-year-old after Bradford City win

Notts County boss Stuart Maynard has heaped praise on Alassana Jatta after their win at Bradford City last night.

Notts County won 3-0 away at Valley Parade in their latest League Two outing.

Jatta, 25, scored twice against the Bantams, with Macauley Langstaff getting their other goal.

Maynard hailed the influence of the forward after the match and said, as per the official club website: “We’ve said it all along that we’ve had to manage him, from the minute he came to the club. He’s come from another country, it takes time to settle. You’re just starting to see little glimpses of what we feel he can do.

“Him and Macca (Macaulay Langstaff) set the tone from minute one. He deserves his goals. He’s worked so hard for the team. He got us up the pitch. He brings us something different.”

Notts County ace hailed

It has been a tough start for Maynard at Notts County following their decision to pick him as Luke Williams’ replacement.

The former Wealdstone manager will be hoping that their win at Bradford is a turning point for him now.

Jatta rocked up at Meadow Lane on the final day of the January transfer window and he has scored three goals in five outings so far for his new club.

The Magpies signed him from Viborg in Denmark and have slowly been easing him into the team.

He will take a lot of confidence from his brace against the Bantams and will be eager to end this campaign on a high.

The Gambian attacker moved over to Europe in 2019 and played for Paide Linnameeskond in Estonia before joining Viborg shortly after.

Jatta went on to score 25 goals in 105 during his spell in Scandinavia, as well as getting four assists to his name.

Notts County is his home now and is making a great first impression with the fourth tier outfit.

They are currently 13th in the table and are six points off the play-offs with eight fixtures left to play. Next up is a home clash against Salford City as they look to build some momentum now.
