New side linked with Cardiff City forward amid recent transfer interest

Cardiff City striker Isaak Davies is attracting attention from across Europe, with Antwerp the latest side to be linked, according to Football Insider.

Cardiff City had looked to be in with a chance of getting into the play-offs after a strong recent upturn in form. However, with the sides above them going on similar runs, they now sit 11th in the table and are eight points outside of the Championship top six with eight left to play.

With the season seemingly all but over for the Bluebirds, attentions could soon turn to next season. Returning loanees could be a focus for Erol Bulut’s side, and they could have a decision to make on those coming back to South Wales in a couple of months.

One such player is Davies. The 22-year-old has been attracting interest from Monaco, Freiburg and Genk according to previous reports, whilst Football Insider now claim Antwerp are also in the mix and are targeting a summer swoop.

It is likely he has admirers in Belgium given his fruitful loan spell at Kortrijk in the Jupiler Pro League. Since joining the Belgian strugglers he has eight goals in 26 appearances.

Time for Cardiff City to cash in?

Given his contract expires at Cardiff City at the end of next season, if an offer comes in which matches or exceeds their valuation they could cash in so to not lose him for free in 2025.

However, given that the Bluebirds’ joint-top scorers have six goals each and one centre-back Perry Ng, Davies returning to the fold next season could mean they already have a number nine ready to lead the line already on their books.

He could save the club from needing to dip into the transfer market to sign a new attacker. Although should a sizeable offer come in from Antwerp or any of the other interested sides, this could help fund their spending if they are to look elsewhere for a striker or two.
