Bundesliga duo set sights on 25-goal/assist Norwich City loanee

Norwich City loanee Christos Tzolis has interest from Werder Bremen and Union Berlin, German outlet BILD has claimed (via Fussball Transfers).

Norwich City signed Tzolis from PAOK Salonika in the summer of 2021. The Greek international had emerged as a real star in his native but he struggled to make an impact at Carrow Road as they were relegated to the Championship in his first season.

An underwhelming loan to Dutch side FC Twente followed and last summer, he made a fresh move away from the Canaries with 2.Bundesliga side Fortuna Dusseldorf.

After a tough couple of years though, Tzolis has recaptured his dangerous best. The 22-year-old attacker has 17 goals and eight assists in 27 games for the German second-tier side across all competitions.

There is a buy option in the loan and it has been said that Dusseldorf will look to trigger that in the event of promotion, potentially even selling Tzolis straight after to raise funds.

Now, BILD (via Fussball Transfers) reports that there are two Bundesliga admirers of the forward.

Norwich City loanee Tzolis is eyed by Werder Bremen and Union Berlin, the report claims. Previous speculation from Greece also linked Borussia Monchengladbach and VfL Wolfsburg with him too.

Who is this?

Stock rising once more

As noted before, Tzolis joined Norwich City with high stock. He’d become a standout player for his hometown club at a young age and was already a Greece international before heading to Carrow Road.

Things just haven’t worked out for him in yellow and green though. It’s clear to see that he’s a talented player, as shown in his early success with PAOK Salonika and resurgence in Germany with loan club Fortuna Dusseldorf.

Unfortunately, the loan club’s option to buy Tzolis means the Canaries can’t really do much when it comes to his future. It could be that the only hope for Norwich City is that Dusseldorf miss out on promotion and can’t afford to trigger the buy option.

Then, his transfer fate will be back in their hands amid interest from Bundesliga sides.

Time will tell just how the matter pans out though with Tzolis’ stock back on the up after an impressive season.
