3 Watford players capable of stepping up to the Premier League in the future

Watford may have had an inconsistent campaign so far but there have still been standout performers in their side. Here we take a look at three who could make the step up to the Premier League.

Watford looked to be in the running to make a surge into the division’s top six, but a poor run of form from the turn of the year onwards looks to have stunted them in their pursuit of a play-off place.

They sit in 13th in the table as things stand and 13 points behind Norwich City in 6th. Yet despite their season seeming all but over, there will be positives to take from the campaign.

Several players have stood out and have shown they can cut it at Championship level. But here we look at three who could go as far as the Premier League in the future.

Yaser Asprilla

Linked to the likes of Barcelona, Galatasaray, Sporting and several Premier League sides, Yaser Asprilla has certainly made an impression for Watford this season.

He has notched six goals and six assists for his current side. He is one that looks almost certain to go onto bigger and better things in years to come.

Matheus Martins

Another player who could make the step up to the one of Europe’s top leagues is Matheus Martins. The winger has six goals and two assists to his name and in a more consistent side he could have more.

At just 20 years old he has a huge future ahead of him. He is direct and skilful and has an eye for goal. It is easy to envision him taking his chance in the Premier League if it comes his way.

Mileta Rajovic

Although not overly prolific this season for the Hornets, summer signing Mileta Rajovic sits atop the club’s goalscoring charts with 10 goals in all competitions.

The 24-year-old comes alive in the six-yard box and with several sides in the top flight in desperate need of a striker or two, Rajovic could be one a side in the division above takes a chance on in the future.
