Manchester City loan man stays behind after club discussions as Hull City head to Turkey

Manchester City loanee Liam Delap hasn’t travelled to Hull City’s training camp in Turkey, as detailed in a report by HullLive.

Hull City have gone overseas for the international break but the striker has stayed back in Manchester.

Delap, 21, is still recovering from a knee injury and although Liam Rosenior wanted him on the plane on Monday, the decision has been made for him to stay behind.

HullLive report the Tigers held ‘discussions’ with Manchester City over the situation and the two parties came to the conclusion that he will be continuing his recovery in England.

Delap is still on loan with Hull until the end of the season and there is still hope that he can feature before the end of the campaign.

He is due to officially return to the Etihad Stadium this summer and Pep Guardiola’s side have a big decision to make on what to do with him in the next transfer window.

The England youth international linked up with the Tigers last July after spending last term with Stoke City and Preston North End in the Championship.

Delap has since impressed during his time in East Yorkshire and scored seven goals in 27 matches in all competitions before injury struck.

He has been on the books at City since they signed him from Derby County in 2019 and he has played six times for the current Premier League champions, chipping in with one goal.

Hull have missed his presence up front over the past couple of months and getting him back would be a huge boost.

However, the fact he wasn’t ready to head to Turkey with his teammates suggest he isn’t that close to full fitness just yet.

Rosenior’s men drew 2-2 at home to Leicester City last time out in the league and are 7th in the table, three points behind 6th place Norwich City.

They are back in action on Good Friday at home to Stoke City before heading to Leeds United on Easter Monday.
