Monaco among clubs eyeing Cardiff City man after impressive European loan

Cardiff City loanee Isaak Davies is wanted by Monaco, Freiburg and Genk after his impressive KV Kortrijk loan stint, according to The Sun.

Cardiff City sent forward Davies out on loan in the summer, giving him a shot at finding regular game time elsewhere. He’d played 43 times for the Bluebirds’ first-team, notching five goals and three assists.

However, a regular starting spot had eluded the 22-year-old. It meant a loan move looked like an appealing option, and Davies has made good on his chance to impress.

He has eight goals in 26 Jupiler Pro League games for KV Kortrijk, including four in his last seven.

Now, with the end of the campaign nearing, the Cardiff City loanee is drawing interest. The Sun reports that clubs from France, Germany and Belgium are keen on Davies ahead of the summer transfer window.

Monaco, Freiburg and Genk are leading the chase, it is claimed. The report adds a move is likely as his contract moves into the last 12 months amid his rise in stock.

Who is this?

On the move?

Time will tell just what action Cardiff City take over Davies in the summer. However, a summer deal could be beneficial for all after a strong season for the forward.

The Bluebirds will perhaps hope they can tempt him into penning a new deal and continuing his development under their watch. However, having found joy in a competitive league like the Belgian top-tier, it’s not a surprise that interest has emerged.

Monaco and Freiburg would both present eye-catching opportunities for the Aberdare-born attacker while Genk could be a good choice given that he has already proven himself in their league.

From Cardiff City’s perspective, while they might hope they can keep Davies for their own use, they could get a good fee for the attacker following his loan. Those funds could then be used to recruit elsewhere in the squad, boosting their hopes for success in the next Championship campaign.
