Derby County receive injury boost regarding striker as Paul Warne provides update

Derby County boss Paul Warne has said on-loan Arsenal striker Tyreece John-Jules ‘may’ be fit before the end of the season.

Derby County have been without the attacker since he sustained a hamstring injury back in January.

John-Jules, 23, has since been recovering as he looks to get back out on the pitch for the Rams to boost their promotion push from League One.

Warne has provided this update on his situation, as per a report by DerbyshireLive: “Tyreece John-Jules was up here for the game on Saturday and they’re now telling me there is a chance he may be fit for the end of the season. That would be a result. Conor Washington is fit and Martyn Waghorn is looking a bit more like it.”

Getting John-Jules back before the campaign finishes would be a big boost for Derby as they look to get over the line and into the Championship.

They swooped to land the forward last summer to bolster their attacking department.

He has since scored two goals in 14 games in all competitions for Warne’s side.

The former England youth international gives the Rams more competition and depth up top and with them currently sweating over Dwight Gayle’s injury, they could do with all the options they can get.

John-Jules has been on the books at Arsenal for his whole career to date and has risen up through the academy ranks of the Premier League giants. However, he has never made a senior appearance for the Gunners.

Instead, he has had temporary spells away from the Emirates Stadium in the past at Lincoln City, Doncaster Rovers, Blackpool, Sheffield Wednesday and Ipswich Town in the Football League to get some experience under his belt.

Derby will hope he can play a part for them before he is officially due to return to the capital this summer.

They secured a crucial 1-0 win at home to promotion rivals Bolton Wanderers over the weekend with defender Kane Wilson scoring the winner.

Next up is an away trip to Northampton Town this Saturday as they look to keep their momentum going.
