Bolton Wanderers remain in the mix for automatic promotion to the Championship, despite their 1-0 loss away at Derby County last time out.

Bolton Wanderers lost in the play-offs at the semi-final stage last year to Barnsley.

The Trotters are hoping to claw themselves of League One this time around and are currently sat in 3rd place in the table.

Here is a look at three of their players who are capable of playing in the league above in the future…

Dion Charles

He is a proven goal scorer in the third tier and has scored 46 goals in 113 games for Bolton, 17 of which have come this season. The striker, who is 28-year-old, will want to test himself at a higher level down the line, whether that is with his current club or someone else.

He was linked with Hull City and Swansea City in the January transfer window, as per a report by the Belfast Telegraph. The ex-Southport and Accrington Stanley man is under contract at the Toughsheet Community Stadium until June 2026.

Who is this?

George Thomason

BristolLive reported that he turned down a move to Bristol City last year. The 23-year-old has become one of Ian Evatt’s most prized assets and he has a bright future ahead of him in the game.

He joined the Trotters back in 2020 following spells at Blackpool and Longridge Town. The midfielder was initially loaned out to Bamber Bridge before breaking into the first-team and he has now made 113 appearances in all competitions, firing eight goals.

Eoin Toal

The 25-year-old was snapped up by Bolton from Derry City back in 2022. He has since adapted well to life in England and has turned out to be a solid acquisition.

Toal is now a Northern Ireland international and has made two caps for his country so far in his career. The centre-back has played 72 matches for the Trotters to date and has found the net on seven occasions from the back.
