‘Need to be wary’ – Wrexham vs Tranmere Rovers prediction: The72

The72’s writers offer their Wrexham vs Tranmere Rovers prediction ahead of the League Two clash on Saturday afternoon.

Wrexham come into this weekend’s clash with Tranmere Rovers looking to continue their push for League Two promotion. Phil Parkinson’s side are four games without defeat but will be disappointed to have drawn 0-0 with an out of form Harrogate Town last time out.

The Red Dragons are 2nd in the League Two table. Only two points separate them and leaders Mansfield Town.

Tranmere Rovers meanwhile defeated the aforementioned Stags in an impressive result in their previous game. It means a hefty 15 points now separates them and the relegation zone.

Nigel Adkins’ side are three games unbeaten but they have taken only one point from their last four away matches ahead of a tricky trip to North Wales.

Here, a handful of our writers make their predictions for the game…

James Ray

Wrexham will need to be wary coming into this one. Tranmere Rovers have already dealt a blow to one League Two promotion hopeful and if the hosts aren’t careful, they could definitely fall foul of Adkins’ side too.

“That said, I do think the hosts prevail here. Their home record remains impressive and Tranmere find the vast majority of their joy on home turf too, with their away form not quite as impressive.

“As said before, Tranmere are definitely a potential banana skin for Wrexham, but I think the promotion contenders will claim a win here. I’ll say it ends 2-0.”

Wrexham will be frustrated after their 0-0 draw at home to Harrogate Town last time out and will want to bounce back with a win here.

They remain in a really strong position in the league table as they look to get themselves into League One.

Tranmere Rovers won’t be easy opponents for Phil Parkinson’s side. They have beaten the likes of Stockport County and Mansfield Town recently.

I think the Whites will be tricky opponents at the Racecourse Ground and I wouldn’t be surprised if they were able to get a draw.”
