Manchester United closing in on deal for Ipswich Town teenager

Manchester United are closing in on the signing of Ipswich Town academy prospect Silva Mexes, according to reputable youth football source The Secret Scout.

Manchester United boast one of the world’s strongest academies and they often dip into the EFL to prize top prospects away from lower league sides. Now, it seems they’re poised to raid Ipswich Town for one of their emerging talents.

Writing on X, reputable youth football news source The Secret Scout has said Tractor Boys prodigy Silva Mexes is closing in on a move to the Premier League giants.

At only 14, Mexes has had top clubs from across the country watching his performances but it seems the Red Devils are set to secure his signature with a deal close.

Ipswich Town have produced some promising players over the years, with some breaking into the first-team at Portman Road while others have moved onto bigger things beyond the Championship club.

First-team mainstay Luke Woolfenden is a product of Town’s academy, as is promising midfielder Cameron Humphreys. Interestingly, Harry Clarke also played for his hometown club’s academy, leaving for Arsenal but then returning in January 2023.
