‘In serious trouble’ – Birmingham City vs Watford prediction: The72

The72’s writers offer their Birmingham City vs Watford prediction ahead of the Championship clash on Saturday.

Birmingham City head into their upcoming Championship match on the back of their 1-0 loss at home to Middlesbrough last time out. The Blues are winless in their last five games.

They are sat in 21st place in the league table. The Midlands outfit are only outside the bottom three by a single point.

As for Watford, they have a new face in the dugout in the form of Tom Cleverley. The ex-Manchester United man has been placed in interim following Valerien Ismael’s sacking.

The Hornets were beaten 2-1 at home by Coventry City in their last outing. They are seven points above the drop zone with nine fixtures left to play.

Here, a handful of our writers make their predictions for the game…

Harry Mail

Birmingham City are in poor form and are in serious trouble at the moment. They are struggling for results and are lacking quality.

The Blues could drop into League One if they aren’t careful and they need to start picking up more points.

Watford also can’t buy a win right now but could have that new manager bounce this weekend. The Hornets are too good to go down but also need to get some wins over the coming weeks to avoid getting sucked in by the teams below.

I can see Tom Cleverley getting an important three wins here.”

Who is this?

James Ray

“It’s going to be interesting to see just how Watford fare over the remainder of the season. Tom Cleverley is a completely unknown presence in the dugout but given that he’s played with the vast majority of his squad, I can see him being able to motivate them and unlock their true ability.

“For Birmingham City, these are concerning times. They’re now in a perilous position above the drop zone and they’re in dire need of some inspiration.

“If there’s a time to get a win, it could be against the rookie manager making his debut. However, I can see the visitors claiming all three points.”
