Manchester City in talks with EFL club over striker’s situation

Hull City boss Liam Rosenior has said the club are in talks with Manchester City over Liam Delap’s situation.

Hull City have the striker on loan from the current European champions until the summer.

Delap, 21, is currently out injured and the Tigers are discussing with his parent club whether they will be taking him over to Turkey for their upcoming training camp.

Rosenior has provided this update, as per a report by HullLive: “Liam’s away in Portugal at the moment in the next phase of his rehab, we’re having communication with Man City about him joining us in Turkey, which I think will be great for him.

“Everything has to be done in his best interests, so if it’s in his best interest physically and psychologically, he’ll come with us. If not, he’ll continue his progress and his progress is really, really good.”

Hull City loan situation

Hull have really missed Delap up front over recent times and his absence has been felt.

The youngster has been a hit with the Tigers since his switch last summer and they will be desperate to get him back before the end of this campaign.

Rosenior’s side are eyeing a place in the Championship play-offs and are currently sat in 7th place after their 2-2 draw with Leicester City at home last time out after goals by winter recruits Fabio Carvalho and Anass Zaroury.

They are only outside the top six on goal difference behind Norwich City but have a break from the action for two weeks now before clashes against Stoke City and Leeds United.

Hull are using the time before the Easter Weekend to go to Turkey to prepare for the final nine fixtures.

It remains to be seen whether Delap will be joining them as he continues his road to recovery.

Manchester City signed him from Derby County back in 2019 and he has since played six times for the Premier League outfit under Pep Guardiola, chipping in with a single goal.

He then spent last term on loan at Stoke City and Preston North End respectively to get some experience.

The Tigers then landed him in July and he has since fired seven goals in 27 outings for the East Yorkshire club.
