Watford interested in two-time Championship promotion winner as new boss

Watford are eyeing a potential swoop for Scott Parker as they weigh up managerial candidates, as detailed in a report by The Mirror.

Watford are in the hunt for a new permanent boss following their decision to part ways with Valerien Ismael after their 2-1 loss at home to Coventry City last time out.

The Championship side have placed Tom Cleverley in interim charge until an appointment is made.

According to The Mirror, Parker is on the ‘radar’ of the Hornets as they consider their options.

Watford eye Scott Parker swoop

Parker has been out of the game for just over a year now having last managed in Belgium at Club Brugge.

He spent his playing career as a midfielder for the likes of Charlton Athletic, Chelsea, Newcastle United, West Ham United, Tottenham Hotspur and Fulham, making 572 appearances. The Londoner also made 18 caps for England.

The 43-year-old delved into the managerial world at Craven Cottage in 2019 and got the Whites promoted to the Premier League a year later.

Parker then moved to AFC Bournemouth in 2021 and guided the Cherries up from the second tier as well after they finished 2nd.

His time at Club Brugge didn’t really go to plan and he needs to get his next job right.

Watford could see him as someone to steady the ship at Vicarage Road after a tough campaign. The Hertfordshire outfit have been in poor form over recent times and need to start picking up some results to avoid getting dragged into a relegation fight.

Parker is someone with decent pedigree and he would be an eye-catching appointment if the Hornets could get him. However, with their habit of sacking managers, it remains to be seen whether he would be keen on going there.
