New detail hands Leeds United further hope of permanent Tottenham Hotspur deal

Leeds United loan man Joe Rodon is open to joining the Whites permanently regardless of how their promotion bid ends, TEAMtalk has said.

Leeds United recruited Rodon on loan from Tottenham Hotspur last summer and since then, the Welshman has become a hugely important figure at Elland Road.

The 26-year-old has missed just two Championship games this season, starting 33 of the other 34. He’s helped keep a thoroughly impressive 16 clean sheets too, thriving alongside either Ethan Ampadu or the currently sidelined Pascal Struijk.

As often is the case with a succeeding loan player, talk of a permanent stay has been rife. Now, a fresh update on that possibility has emerged from TEAMtalk.

They say that while there is interest from elsewhere – including Premier League sides – ahead of the summer, Rodon is strongly considering a permanent stay with Leeds United, regardless of whether they win promotion back to the top-flight.

It is added that £12m to £15m could be enough to tempt Spurs into a sale.

A boost for the Whites

Of course, Leeds United are prioritising promotion to the Premier League. They’d be disappointed if they miss out too, currently sitting 2nd in the Championship table after a thoroughly impressive campaign.

Many might have thought they would only really have a chance of keeping Rodon if they were to win promotion. That could yet be the case given the top-flight interest, but the fact he is open to staying regardless of how their season ends will certainly be encouraging.

He’s been a huge hit with the Whites and he looks to have settled in well and thoroughly enjoyed his time at the club. At £12m to £15m, a permanent deal certainly seems feasible, though time will tell just how the matter pans out.
