Blackpool coach eyed by managerless League Two side

Blackpool Under-21’s boss Stephen Dobbie is a candidate for the Accrington Stanley job, reports Alan Nixon.

Blackpool could face some interest from the League Two side in the Scotsman.

Dobbie, 41, had a spell in caretaker charge at Bloomfield Road last season before they dropped into League One.

According to reporter Nixon on his Patreon, he is in the ‘frame’ for the Accrington vacancy along with Stanley’s youth coach Lee Camp.

Blackpool coach eyed by Accrington Stanley

Accrington have a big decision to make on who to bring in as their new manager. They have recently parted company with John Coleman and are weighing up who to bring in as his replacement, with John Doolan currently in interim charge.

Stanley find themselves in 16th position in the fourth tier table with 10 games left of the season to play.

The Lancashire outfit could see Dobbie as the man to take them forward following Coleman’s lengthy tenure at the Wham Stadium.

The former Swansea City, Brighton and Hove Albion and Bolton Wanderers attacker, who hung up his boots back in 2022, delved into the coaching world with AFC Fylde in non-league.

Blackpool then brought him in back in July 2022 as Senior Professional Development Phase coach.

He then became caretaker boss during the latter stages of the last campaign after Mick McCarthy’s exit. Despite the Seasiders getting relegated, he won three out of his six matches in charge.

Dobbie then dropped back into his previous role when Neil Critchley was brought back last summer.

Accrington are in poor form at the moment and need someone to come in and steady the ship. They are comfortably in mid-table and their chances of making the play-offs are fading away fast.

Stanley were beaten 3-0 at home by Bradford City last time out and are back in action tomorrow with an away trip to Swindon Town.
