‘A tough ask’ – Wrexham vs Harrogate Town prediction: The72

The72’s writers offer their Wrexham vs Harrogate Town prediction ahead of their League Two clash on Tuesday evening.

The72’s writers offer their Wrexham vs Harrogate Town prediction ahead of their League Two clash on Tuesday evening.

Wrexham head into this midweek clash following a 3-1 victory away from home over Morecambe on Saturday afternoon.

Phil Parkinson’s men initially found themselves a goal down after Gerard Garner’s fourth minute opener, but James McClean’s leveller ensured things were all square at the break. Max Melbourne was then sent off for the hosts early on in the second half before Paul Mullin dispatched a penalty and Steven Fletcher wrapped up the scoring to keep the Red Dragons 3rd in the table.

Harrogate Town, on the other hand, head to the Racecourse Ground after a 2-1 defeat on home soil against Crawley Town in their last fixture.

George Thomson had the Sulphurites ahead at half-time, but Harry Forster and Klaidi Lolos struck in the second half to confirm victory for the away side. The result meant that Simon Weaver’s side dropped down to 14th in League Two, now six points off the play-off spots.

Here, a handful of our writers make their predictions for the game…

Jacob Hackett

Wrexham will be full of confidence following their comfortable victory at the weekend, and back at home they will be hoping to make it three wins in a row.

“Parkinson’s side have a game in hand over 4th place MK Dons, and already sit two points above their automatic promotion rivals, so will be raring to go against Harrogate.

“The visitors are without a win in six after their devastating 9-2 defeat at the hands of Mansfield Town, and it will be a tough ask for them to take anything home from Wrexham on Tuesday.

“I am going for a fairly routine win for the hosts on this occasion.”

Wrexham have put themselves in a really strong position as they eye automatic promotion from League One.

They need to ensure that they stay consistent between now and the end of the season to help get over the line.

This could potentially be a tricky evening for Phil Parkinson’s side against Harrogate Town and they may need to be patient against the Yorkshire club.

However, in the end I think the hosts will be too strong for their visitors. If they can get the first goal, I can see them scoring a few.”
