Stoke City man in line for return to training, will miss Preston North End trip

Stoke City attacker Ryan Mmaee ‘should’ return to training next week following a knee problem, as detailed in a report by StokeOnTrentLive.

Stoke City are back in Championship action this weekend with a tricky away trip to Deepdale to take on play-off hopefuls Preston North End.

Mmaee, 26, will remain out of action for the Potters for their clash against the Lilywhites.

However, in this latest update regarding his situation by StokeOnTrentLive, he is expected to be back on the training pitch with his teammates very soon.

Getting Mmaee fit for the end of season run-in is crucial for Stoke as they look to avoid relegation to League One.

The Potters haven’t seen the best of him yet and he has a big point to prove following his arrival last summer.

He rocked up at the Bet365 Stadium from Ferencváros on a three-year deal after scoring 32 goals in 73 outings for his previous club.

The Morocco international, who has 12 caps under his belt, has also been on the books at Standard Liege and AEL Limassol in the past.

Mmaee has scored four goals in all competitions for Stoke in this campaign, three of which have come in the league.

The Potters were beaten 1-0 away at Leeds United last time out and are in the bottom three along with Rotherham United and Sheffield Wednesday.

Steven Schumacher’s side are only in the drop zone on goal difference and could rise out on Saturday if they pick up a positive result at Preston and other scores go their way.

Their upcoming opponents saw their fixture against Southampton postponed on Wednesday following a fire near St Mary’s Stadium.
