‘Nothing serious’ – Charlton Athletic man ready to face Carlisle United as Nathan Jones provides update

Charlton Athletic boss Nathan Jones has said Rarmani Edmonds-Green hasn’t picked up anything ‘serious’ after going off against Cheltenham Town last time out.

Charlton Athletic had to withdraw the defender during their 3-1 away win on Tuesday night.

Edmonds-Green, 25, is expected to be fine for their upcoming League One clash against Carlisle United this weekend.

Jones has provided this update on his condition, as per the official club website: “It’s nothing serious. The way the schedule is, the games come thick and fast, there’s travelling and you get a lot of bumps and bruises. We’re at the business end of the season so that’s just part and parcel of that.”

The fact Edmonds-Green isn’t poised for a spell on the sidelines is good news for Charlton.

He was snapped up in the January transfer window to bolster their defensive department.

The centre-back joined from Huddersfield Town and has since played 10 times for Jones’ side.

Edmonds-Green rose up through the youth ranks of the Terriers and went on to make 55 appearances for their first-team in all competitions, chipping in with three goals from the back.

He also had loan spells away from the John Smith’s Stadium at Brighouse Town, Bromley, Swindon Town, Rotherham United and Wigan Athletic to get some experience under his belt.

The Yorkshire club let him leave on a permanent basis for the first time in his career earlier this winter and Charlton has become his new home.

The Addicks have been in decent form recently and have managed to claw themselves away from danger.

They are now 14th in the table and will be eager to end the campaign on a high. Their upcoming opponents Carlisle are bottom of the league.
