‘Need to win’ – Barnsley vs Lincoln City prediction: The72

The72’s writers offer their Barnsley vs Lincoln City prediction ahead of the League One clash on Saturday.

Barnsley drew 2-2 at home to Bolton Wanderers in their last League One outing. They threw away a 2-0 lead against the Trotters.

The Tykes are sat in 4th place in the table. Neill Collins’ side are three points off the top two.

As for Lincoln City, they are 10th and are eight points off the play-offs. They could still get into the top six if they hit a good run of form.

The Imps drew 0-0 at home to Stevenage last time out. They had 13 shots but only one was on target.

Here, a handful of our writers make their predictions for the game…

Harry Mail

“This could be a potentially tricky game for Barnsley. Lincoln City have been in solid form recently under Michael Skubala.

The Imps are unbeaten in their last 10 games, winning five of them, and have kept four clean sheets in a row.

“However, despite drawing against Bolton Wanderers, the Tykes should still be in confident mood. They themselves haven’t lost in their last seven outings.

“Neill Collins’ side need to win here to keep the keep on the top two but I think they’ll be held by a stubborn Lincoln outfit.”

James Ray

“This should be a close game between two in form teams. Barnsley have done really well to keep pace with the fight for the top two, quietly chipping away while others have dropped points along the way.

“With Lincoln up next though, they’re in for a tricky one. Michael Skubala’s side have been on a good run of their own and they won’t be looking to ease up despite the slim chance of getting to the play-offs.

“I’ll say this ends level, but I wouldn’t be all that surprised if Barnsley picked up another win to end Lincoln’s impressive streak.”
