Millwall loan man expected to leave parent club this summer permanently, report claims

Millwall brought in Japhet Tanganga on loan from Tottenham Hotspur in January, but now TEAMtalk report he looks likely to leave his parent club permanently this summer.

Millwall have utilised the loan market effectively this season, bringing in Michael Obafemi, Allan Campbell, Ryan Longman, Brooke Norton-Cuffy and Tanganga.

All five players will be hoping to contribute in helping the Lions avoid the drop this season. Currently they occupy 18th spot in the table but are just two points above the bottom three.

Although staying in the Championship will be their priority, those behind the scenes may already have an eye on next season and potential incomings to help prevent another relegation battle next term.

One player who Neil Harris’ side could snap up is current loan man Tanganga. TEAMtalk report that this summer will be the time to cash in on the 24-year-old defender, claiming he will not be missed should he depart the Premier League outfit.

His contract is up at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium next summer and so with just one year on his contract a move away from his parent club looks to be a safe bet at this time and Millwall could be hoping to be the beneficiaries.

A great option for Millwall

Tanganga has impressed during his time at the Den so far and should Spurs’ asking price not exceed what Millwall can afford, he could well make his loan move permanent this summer.

With the report stating that he is likely to leave, it does seem he would be deemed surplus to requirements at his parent club in North London, therefore their valuation may not be all too much and will present Millwall with a big opportunity.

However, he did seal a move to the top flight in Germany at the start of the season and has experience playing in the Premier League. Therefore, if a side competing in one of Europe’s top five leagues comes calling, he may well prefer a move elsewhere rather than the Championship.
