Huddersfield Town man takes significant step on road to recovery from injury

Huddersfield Town goalkeeper Jacob Chapman made his return from injury for the B team against Mansfield Town earlier this week, as per the club’s official website.

Huddersfield Town handed the stopper a start as they beat Mansfield Town 2-0 in the Central League after goals by Pat Jones and Conor Falls.

Chapman, 23, has been out of action over recent times due to an ankle injury.

The Terriers have confirmed he played 90 minutes against the Stags in a significant step on his road to recovery.

Chapman will provide competition and depth between the sticks for Huddersfield’s first-team once he is fully fit.

He joined the Championship club back in 2019 and has since played twice for their senior team, both of which came earlier this season.

The ‘keeper is from Australia and moved over to England after spells Down Under at Sydney United 58 and Marconi Stallions.

The Terriers then snapped him up after a trial spell and he has since risen up through their academy ranks.

Chapman has had loan stints away from the John Smith’s Stadium at Ossett United, Gateshead and Salford City to get some experience under his belt.

He then made his debut in December last year in a league fixture against Blackburn Rovers after Chris Maxwell got injured.

His contract expires at the end of this term and the Yorkshire club have a decision to make on whether to keep hold of him. That may depend on what league they are in.

Huddersfield are fighting for survival and are back in action this weekend against promotion hopefuls West Brom at home as they look to bounce back from their 1-0 loss away at Cardiff City last time out.
