‘He is so consistent’ – QPR ace hailed by teammate after ‘monster’ West Brom showing

QPR defender Jimmy Dunne has heaped praise on his teammate Sam Field after his ‘monster’ performance against West Brom last time out.

QPR drew 2-2 at home to the Baggies and are back in Championship action this weekend at home to Middlesbrough.

Field, 25, bagged a brace against his former club West Brom to help his side pick up a point against the promotion chasers.

Dunne hailed the midfielder after the match and said, as per the official club website: “I love Sam, and that was just brilliant for him. He works so hard, he is so consistent, he gives his absolute all and I actually said to him before the game it was about time he unleashed the beast, and he said to me afterwards, ‘I’ve just unleashed the beast!’

“He was a real monster and I am so happy for him.”

Field has started the last two games for QPR following Jack Colback’s suspension.

He has given Marti Cifuentes something to think about ahead of Saturday’s fixture against Boro after his two goals against West Brom.

The former England youth international rose up through the youth ranks of the Baggies and went on to play 45 games for their first-team as a youngster, as well as having loan spells away from the Hawthorns at Charlton Athletic and the Hoops to gain experience.

The R’s snapped him up permanently in 2021 and he has since made 113 appearances in all competitions.

His contract expires in the summer and his long-term future is up in the air right now. His chances of staying will probably depend on what league the club are in next term.

QPR are currently fighting for their lives in the second tier as they look to avoid relegation to League One.

Cifuentes’ men are 19th in the table with 10 games left to play and are outside the bottom three by a single point.

The London club have been in decent form recently and are unbeaten in their last four outings. They have also only lost once in their last nine so are proving to be a tough nut to crack right now.
