‘He has experience’ – Cardiff City man hailed by Erol Bulut after Huddersfield Town win

Cardiff City boss Erol Bulut has hailed the ‘experience’ of Famara Diedhiou after their win last night.

Cardiff City won 1-0 at home to Huddersfield Town in the Championship and the striker managed to get on the scoresheet in the first-half.

Diedhiou, 31, joined the Bluebirds in the January transfer window and was apparently disappointed he didn’t play against his former club Bristol City last weekend.

Bulut has said, as per a report by WalesOnline: “With Famara, he was expecting to play the last game against his ex-team. We made the right decision, I think. He was angry he didn’t play, but I can understand, everyone wants play against their ex-team. But we kept it for today and he gave it back with a goal.

“He played four years in the Championship and scored more than 50 goals. He has experience. Maybe the last one and a half years was not what he was expecting. It was a good start and I hope the rest of the games he continues like that.”

Diedhiou’s disappointment of missing out against Bristol City probably fuelled him to score against Huddersfield.

Cardiff landed the attacker earlier this winter on loan from Granada on a deal until the end of the campaign to add more competition and depth to their options up top.

The Senegal international, who has made 27 caps to his country, was on the books at Ashton Gate from 2017 to 2021 and was a hit during his time with the Robins, scoring 51 goals in 169 matches in all competitions.

He has also played for the likes of Angers and Alanyaspor in the past and has made the Cardiff City Stadium his temporary home now.

The Bluebirds will be hoping that his goal against the Terriers will give him the confidence to push on and get more under his belt now.

Bulut’s men are in decent form and are unbeaten in their last four league games, winning their last three in a row.

They are only seven points off the play-offs now and could make a late charge for the top six if they can keep their momentum going.

Next up for the Welsh outfit is a tricky home clash against automatic promotion chasing Ipswich Town. The Tractor Boys beat Diedhiou’s ex-club Bristol City 3-2 last time out.
