Millwall head into this weekend’s relegation six-pointer with Birmingham City following a 1-1 draw away from home against Blackburn Rovers on Tuesday evening.

The Lions took the lead within ten minutes of the second half through Michael Obafemi, but Sammie Szmodics hit back nine minutes later to ensure the points were shared on Tuesday evening. Neil Harris’ men sit 18th in the table following the result, two points above the relegation zone.

Birmingham City also drew their last fixture 1-1, taking a point home from their visit to Hull City.

Ozan Tufan put the Tigers ahead in the first half, but the Blues hit back late on through veteran striker Lukas Jutkiewicz to secure a point. They currently occupy 20th spot in the Championship, one point above the bottom three.

Here, a handful of our writers make their predictions for the game…

Jacob Hackett

“Just one point splits these two sides in the table, so it is bound to be a cagey encounter at the Den this weekend.

Millwall have shown clear signs of improvement since Harris’ reappointment as head coach and they are yet to lose under his leadership this campaign.

“They were not at their best against Blackburn, yet still managed to secure a point and I back them to better their performance back on home soil.

Birmingham did well to draw with Hull, but I think the hosts will continue their unbeaten run on Saturday by narrow margins.”

“There’s no hiding how important this game could be in the relegation fight. The winner will lift themselves away from the bottom three while the loser will be pushed towards it.

“It sets up a tense affair between Millwall and Birmingham City, and I am leaning towards a home win. Neil Harris has had a positive impact since his return, tightening things up and really galvanising a struggling group.

“With the spirit instilled, I think they can shutout the visitors here. I’m going for a 1-0 home win and a huge three points for the hosts.”
