3 Dean Campbell alternatives Oxford United should consider amid links to Barrow man

Oxford United are interested in Barrow midfielder Dean Campbell, according to a report by Football Scotland.

Oxford United are being linked with a swoop for the League Two ace this summer.

Campbell, 22, only joined his current club from Aberdeen last year.

Here is a look at three players the U’s should target if they aren’t able to land the Scotsman…

Isaac Hutchinson

The 22-year-old has had an impressive season in the fourth tier with Walsall. He has scored 14 goals in all competitions, 10 of which have come in the league, and would be a useful addition for Oxford if they managed to lure him to the Kassam Stadium.

Hutchinson has been on the books at Brighton and Hove Albion, Southend United and Derby County in the past. He joined his current club back in 2022 and is now one of their key players.

Greg Docherty

His contract at Hull City in the Championship is up at the end of this campaign. The ex-Rangers man is due to become a free agent at the end of June as things stand.

He would be a solid signing for the U’s, regardless of what league they are in next term. His game time at the MKM Stadium has dried up recently due to competition for his position.

Dan Gore

The 19-year-old is highly-rated by Manchester United and was sent on loan to Port Vale in January. However, he has struggled to make an impact at Vale Park as the Valiants battle it out at the bottom end of the table.

It wouldn’t be a surprise to see the teenager sent somewhere else by the Red Devils this summer and he could be an option for Oxford. He may feel he needs a change of scene and somewhere he can prove a point.
