Stockport County man returns from loan spell away

Stockport County defender Taylor McMahon has returned from his loan spell at Stalybridge Celtic, as confirmed on the club’s official website.

Stockport County let the youngster join the Northern Premier League Division One West side to get some more experience.

McMahon, 19, went on to play twice for the non-league outfit.

The Hatters have now announced he is back at Edgeley Park.

Stockport County loan end

Stockport signed McMahon last summer on a free transfer following his exit from Stoke City in the Championship.

He was snapped up by the League Two side to link up with their Emerging Talents Programme and he made his first-team debut in an EFL Trophy clash away at fellow North West outfit Salford City earlier this season.

The versatile prospect, who can play in the heart of defence or at left full-back, also had a stint away at Stafford Rangers late last year to boost his development.

He rose up through the academy ranks at Stoke and was a regular for the Potters at various youth levels before cutting ties with them at the end of last term.

Stockport have since handed him a home and have a decision to make now on what to do with him next. His chances of senior football under Dave Challinor are slim right now as they chase down promotion to League One.

Another temporary exit wouldn’t be a bad idea between now and the summer as it would boost his chances of getting more opportunities.

The Hatters are back in action this weekend with a home clash against Newport County as they look to return to winning ways. They are currently 2nd behind table toppers Mansfield Town after seeing their form slump recently.
