Carlisle United want to offload 20-year-old on a temporary basis this summer

Carlisle United boss Paul Simpson has said they will look to loan out goalkeeper Gabriel Breeze next season.

Carlisle United are interested in sending the stopper somewhere else on a temporary basis to help him get some more experience.

Breeze, 20, has recently penned a new contract with the League One side.

Simpson has provided this update on his situation, as per a report by the News & Star: “If we are in a position where Gabe can go out on loan, if he’s not our first choice next season, then that’s what we’ll look to do.”

Carlisle United plan to loan out goalkeeper

Breeze has been used as back-up by Carlisle this season and has made four appearances in all competitions.

He has been on the bench a lot in this campaign and currently competes with Harry Lewis and Tomas Holy for a place between the sticks at Brunton Park.

A loan exit this summer would be beneficial for his career though and would help boost his development.

Breeze has been on the books of the Cumbrians for his whole career to date and has risen up through the academy ranks.

He has been a regular at various different youth levels and was handed his first professional deal back in 2021.

Carlisle let him join Northern Premier League Division West side Widnes last year to get some experience under his belt.

He then made his senior debut in December last year against Fleetwood Town in a league fixture.

The Cumbrians are bottom of the third tier table after a tough term following their promotion from League Two last year. They are back in action this weekend with an away trip to The Valley to face Charlton Athletic.
