‘Nervous end to the season’ – Middlesbrough vs Norwich City prediction: The72

The72’s writers offer their Middlesbrough vs Norwich City prediction ahead of the Championship clash on Wednesday night.

Middlesbrough come into their midweek clash with Norwich City still on the lookout for an upturn in form. Boro have lost four of the last five Championship games now, with their play-off hopes seemingly dead and buried.

Michael Carrick’s side were beaten by a lowly Stoke City at the weekend, highlighting their struggles of late. They’re back at the Riverside for this one, where they are winless in five.

Norwich City meanwhile are sustaining their bid for a top six spot with some impressive form. They’re undefeated in six with a weekend win over Sunderland putting them a point off the play-offs and 7th in the Championship table.

The Canaries’ away form leaves a lot to be desired though. They’ve won just once in their last seven league games away from Carrow Road.

Here, a handful of our writers make their predictions for the game…

James Ray

Middlesbrough need to be careful, else they could be in for a nervous end to the season. For what it’s worth I think they’ve got enough points in the bank to stay clear of the drop, but some more poor results and that six-point gap will shrink further.

“That said, I think they’ll be beaten again here. Norwich City aren’t the best on the road but in terms of sheer momentum, they’ve got a big advantage over Boro.

“Carrick’s side need to find form, and soon. I’ll say they lose this one 2-1.”

Middlesbrough vs Norwich City prediction: 1-2

Harry Mail

Middlesbrough need to start picking up more results to avoid getting sucked into a relegation battle.

It has been a frustrating season for Michael Carrick’s side and they have been way too inconsistent. In fairness, they lost of a players last summer.

Norwich City are in decent form and are pushing for the play-offs. They are on a bit of a roll and I think they’ll keep their momentum going with a positive result at the Riverside Stadium, although it may be a close one.”

Middlesbrough vs Norwich City prediction: 0-1
