English winger could be sold for £10.2m as Southampton eye summer move

Southampton target Samuel Iling-Junior could be sold by Juventus for only €12m with West Ham the latest side linked by Tutto Juve (via Sport Witness).

Southampton will have their promotion fight at the top of their list of priorities as it stands. They’re currently 4th in the Championship table, five points off the top two with 11 Championship games to go.

However, those behind the scenes at St. Mary’s will have eyes on the future. The summer transfer window follows the end of the campaign, and the Saints will hope to have some eye-catching targets identified regardless of which division they find themselves in.

One player linked last month was Juventus winger Samuel Iling-Junior. At the time it was reported by Tutto Juve – a branch of reputable Italian news source Tutto Mercato Web – that Iling-Junior was valued at €15m amid interest from Southampton, Brighton, Crystal Palace and Brentford.

Now though, the same outlet states that Juventus could sell the 20-year-old Englishman for as little as €12m (around £10.2m). Southampton are once again named as an interested party, while West Ham are mentioned as a new suitor.

Juve will make a decision over his future in the coming months. They will either look to extend his deal, which ends in 2025, or they will take the chance to cash in.

Who is this?

On the move?

It will be up to Juventus to decide whether they want hold onto Iling-Junior or let him go. Until that decision is made, Southampton and the other sides keen will have to wait patiently to see how things pan out.

Given the Premier League interest though, it could be that the Saints need promotion if they’re to tempt the former Chelsea prospect to Hampshire. He’s been playing top-flight football in Italy with a prestigious club, so a drop to the Championship may not appeal to the talented Englishman.

With Juventus, Iling-Junior has managed two goals and four assists in 35 games after starring for the youth sides. He’s played 17 times this season, with the vast majority of his outings coming on the left-wing. The England U21 international can play on the right too though and has also made a handful of substitute appearances in a central midfield role with Juve.
