Charlton Athletic defender back available for Cheltenham Town trip

Charlton Athletic defender Lloyd Jones is back available for their upcoming game.

Charlton Athletic are back in League One action with an away trip to Cheltenham Town.

Jones, 28, has missed their last two fixtures against Derby County and Northampton Town due to suspension.

The centre-back has picked up 10 yellow cards this season and Nathan Jones said last week to the club website that he had to sit out for two matches.

Charlton Athletic man returns

Jones’ return is a boost for Charlton as they prepare to face Cheltenham.

He was signed by the London club last summer and has since enjoyed plenty of game time at The Valley.

The Plymouth-born man rose up through the academy ranks at Liverpool and was loaned out by the Reds to Cheltenham Town, Accrington Stanley, Blackpool and Swindon Town as a youngster. He left Anfield in 2018 and has since played for Luton Town and Northampton.

Jones has found a home with the Addicks now and he will be pushing to return to their starting XI against the Robins.

Nathan Jones has made a positive impression since taking over at Charlton from Michael Appleton. His side drew 1-1 away at Northampton last time out.

They are now 18th in the table and are four points above the drop zone with 10 games left to play as they look to avoid relegation to League Two.

The Addicks are unbeaten in their last five games in the league and will be eager to keep their momentum going as they head to the Completely Suzuki Stadium.
