3 Stanley Nwabali alternatives QPR must consider amid goalkeeper links

QPR are interested in Chippa United goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali, according to reporter Fabrizio Romano on X.

QPR are being linked with a swoop for the stopper along with Al Ettifaq in Saudi Arabia.

Nwabali, 27, has recently been away on international duty with Nigeria at AFCON.

Here is a look at three alternatives who the Hoops could target instead of him this summer…

Viktor Johansson

He has been a standout player for Rotherham United this season, despite their struggles in the Championship. The Millers will face a battle to keep hold of him in the next transfer window, especially if they are relegated to League One which looks increasingly likely.

Johansson, who is a Sweden international, has made the number one spot his own with the South Yorkshire outfit over recent years. He would be an ideal addition for QPR.

Steven Benda

The 25-year-old was snapped up by Fulham last year but has been used as back-up by the Premier League side. He could do with leaving Craven Cottage for more first-team football elsewhere.

Benda was on the books at Swansea City from 2017 to 2023 and played 31 games for the Welsh outfit. He also had loan spells away from the Swansea.com Stadium at Swindon Town and Peterborough United to get some experience under his belt.

Who is this?

Josh Griffiths

At the age of 22, he has a bright future ahead of him in the game and would be a great long-term option for QPR. He is currently West Brom’s number two behind Alex Palmer.

Griffiths has risen up through the academy ranks of the Baggies and has made 13 appearances for the Midlands club, three of which have come this term. He has also had temporary stints away from the Hawthorns at Cheltenham Town, Lincoln City and Portsmouth to boost his development.
