QPR keen on move for international goalkeeper, reporter claims

QPR are interested in Chippa United goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali, reports Fabrizio Romano.

QPR are being linked with a swoop for the stopper along with Steven Gerrard’s Al Ettifaq in Saudi Arabia.

Nwabali, 27, is a Nigeria international with seven caps under his belt so far in his career.

According to reporter Romano on X, he is on the ‘list’ of potential targets for Marti Cifuentes’ side.

QPR could see Nwabali as someone to bolster their goalkeeping department down the line.

He started his career in his native country with Go Round F.C, Enyimba, Lobi Stars and Katsina United before moving to his current club in 2022.

The stopper has since been a key player in the South African Premier Division but Chippa will consider his future over the coming months amid rumours of a move elsewhere.

Nwabali has recently been away at AFCON with Nigeria and helped them reach the final. However, they were beaten by Ivory Coast in the end.

QPR are currently fighting for their lives in the Championship and are in decent form under Cifuentes.

The Hoops’ number one is Asmir Begovic and he has been a hit between the sticks for the London outfit since his move last summer. However, at the age of 36, they may be looking at younger alternatives for the future.

The R’s won 2-1 away at table toppers Leicester City this weekend to boost their survival hopes after goals by Ilias Chair and Sinclair Armstrong.

They are now sat in 19th place and are outside the drop zone on goal difference. Next up for them is a home clash against West Brom.
