Burroughs, Mason-Clarke and more: What the summer could hold for Coventry City’s loaned out players

Coventry City‘s defeat at West Brom on Friday evening may have been the final nail in the coffin in terms of their play-off hopes for this season.

Coventry City looked to be in the mix to secure a play-off place, but the 2-1 loss at the Hawthorns means they are now five points off the top six and sit in 9th in the table.

Although they will undoubtedly continue chasing the play-off pack and hope a run of results boosts their chances and league position, they would be forgiven to now have one eye on next season.

The summer transfer window will likely be a huge one for the Sky Blues, with incomings, outgoings and players returning from loan. With that in mind, here we take a look at the three players returning from loan and what the summer may hold.

Ephron Mason-Clarke

Having just arrived at the CBS Arena he certainly has a future at the club and will return to Coventry City in the summer with a view to getting into the first-team picture and making an impression at his new side.

The 24-year-old signed from Peterborough United on deadline day of the winter window but immediately returned to the Posh to see out the season at his former side on loan.

Jack Burroughs

The midfielder has played 20 times for Coventry City in his career but was seen as surplus to requirements in the summer and dropped down into League One to join Lincoln City on a season-long loan deal.

He has played a huge part in the Imps’ push for promotion from League One up into the Championship. He will return to the Sky Blues in the summer with a view of getting into the first-team. However, another loan deal could be more likely as a means of getting valuable playing time under his belt.

Ryan Howley

The 20-year-old had a few run-outs in the first-team at his parent club but a lack of guaranteed playing time meant he had to seek out a loan deal elsewhere. He joined Dundee in Scotland for the season but hasn’t really made a huge impression since signing. He will return to Coventry City in the summer and another loan away from the club seems likely at this stage.
