Plymouth Argyle vs Ipswich Town: 5 players who could dictate the game tomorrow

Plymouth Argyle vs Ipswich Town takes place in the Championship at Home Park tomorrow. Here are five players who could dictate the tie…

Plymouth Argyle vs Ipswich Town sees last season’s automatic promotion winners face off for the second time in the campaign. However, both have embarked on differing journeys since the rise to the Championship.

The Pilgrims have proven their worth in the second-tier but will be looking over their shoulder somewhat. They sit 15th with five points separating them and the drop after a big win over Middlesbrough last season.

The Tractor Boys meanwhile have recovered from a poor run of form to win four in a row, keeping them right in the promotion fight. Kieran McKenna’s side are 3rd in the Championship table, level on points with 2nd placed Leeds United.

Ahead of the game, we pick out five players who could dictate Plymouth Argyle vs Ipswich Town

Omari Hutchinson

Hutchinson has been in fantastic form of late and with Wes Burns and Nathan Broadhead out, he will likely be in from the start tomorrow. The Chelsea loanee has three goals and two assists in his last five league outings.

Darko Gyabi

Leeds United loanee Gyabi has found valuable game time with Plymouth Argyle since joining in January and against Middlesbrough, he put in arguably his best performance to date.

In a more advanced midfield role, he drew high praise from Pilgrims pundit Hasney Aljofree. Another eye-catching display will see him gain more plaudits.

Jeremy Sarmiento

As a result of the earlier mentioned injuries to Burns and Broadhead, Sarmiento is another who could come into the team.

He’ll be tasked with providing a regular supply line to towering striker Kieffer Moore and with his tricky and direct dribbling ability out wide, he could find joy against the hosts’ wing-backs.

Who is this?

Morgan Whittaker

Whittaker has been the standout man for Argyle this season and opponents often find that limited his output is key to success at Home Park. That’s easier said that done though with the former Swansea City man a constant threat on the right.

He has 17 goals and seven assists in 34 league games but will be looking for a first goal contribution in three games here.

Cameron Burgess

It’s no coincidence that Ipswich Town’s form has picked up since Burgess’ return to the starting XI. They struggled while he was away with Australia and since then, McKenna and co have won four in a row.

If Ipswich are to keep a dangerous Plymouth quiet, Burgess will have an important part to play.
