Middlesbrough midfielder makes National League switch

Middlesbrough youngster Terrell Agyemang has joined Hartlepool United on loan until the end of the season, it has been confirmed.

Middlesbrough added Agyemang to their ranks last summer, bringing the former Charlton Athletic youngster in following his departure from Premier League giants Manchester City.

The 21-year-old has since been a regular for Boro at U21 level. He was in the squad as Michael Carrick’s side faced Championship rivals Huddersfield Town in the EFL Cup back in August but is still waiting on his senior debut for the Teesside outfiit.

Agyemang has found chances away from the Riverside though, spending time with National League side Hartlepool United earlier this season. Now, it has been confirmed that he’s return to the fifth-tier outfit.

The Pools announced Agyemang’s return on their official club website on Friday afternoon, bringing him back for the rest of the campaign. He now links up with Kevin Phillips, who took over at Victoria Park in January.

Best for Agyemang?

Agyemang has played a good amount of youth football with strong academies in Charlton Athletic, Manchester City and Middlesbrough. He’ll now be keen to get more chances at a senior level, and a second stint with Hartlepool United offers him just that.

His ability to play comfortably as a midfielder, out wide or at full-back will be of good value to Kevin Phillips. Hopefully, that level of versatility gives him plenty of paths into the starting XI with the Pools too.

Middlesbrough will be hoping to see Agyemang catch the eye as they begin to weigh up their plans for next season. His deal runs until the end of the 2024/25 campaign, so an impressive loan could shape Boro’s thinking with the summer transfer window a few months away.
